Had dinner last night at Nourishing Quarter www.bnourished.com.au and I have to say, it’s the best meal I’ve had in a long time that I haven’t cooked myself (actually, I cook almost all the meals I eat, so that may not be saying much).
But seriously, this restaurant is awesome. It describes itself as ‘A fusion of sacred and nourishing Latin American ingredients with exotic South East Asian and Mediterranean soul food’.
And the decor is as funky and eclectic as the food: the mismatched plates look like the ones your granny kept in her glass cabinet; there are various vintage appliances and other items scattered around the place such as ancient radios, a piano accordion, and photos of Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth in their youth; and on the wall you’ll find a selection of wholefood cookbooks to browse while you await your freshly-prepared meal.
We had fresh rice paper wraps stuffed with quinoa and kumera noodles, chia seeds and vegies for entree, a delicious curry for mains and 2 divine salads: a Thai style one and greens with fresh fruit. We also indulged in vegan, sugar-free cheesecake for dessert. Yummy!
Most, if not all of their offerings are gluten-free, and they place particular emphasis on using ingredients high in antioxidants, omega 3 fats, vitamins, minerals and fibre.
I can’t wait to go back – with the kids, next time.
Make sure you post a review if you go too!
